With two new awards included in the line-up, the 2021 Park World Excellence Awards are now open for entry.

Despite not being able to meet in person, last year’s virtual event was very well received by the industry and only underlined the value the industry places on being a Park World Excellence Award winner. Event director, Paul Ryder comments: “With entries increasing year-on-year, the Park world Excellence Awards has quickly become a key date in the industry calendar. So, while it is hoped we can celebrate together in Barcelona this September if, due to the ongoing restrictions we are unable to do so, rest assured we will bring the ceremony to you!”

Reflecting the success and growth of the Park World Excellence Awards over the past three years, 2021 sees the introduction of two new award categories, Best Green Initiative and Best Use of Technology (Guest experience/Park operations).

Commenting on the introduction of ‘Best Green Initiative’ to the ‘Industry’ categories, Marcus Gaines, owner of Ride and Park Media and Park World Excellence Awards judge says: “Bringing in this award shows just how much work the industry is putting in to creating an environmentally sustainable future, helping to ensure that future generations can enjoy both the planet and days out to visitor attractions. It is right that Park World helps to champion and recognise that work in helping with climate change.”

Judge, François Mayne, freelance author and owner of OOPARC agrees: “I am glad that Park World is introducing the new “Green Initiative” category, because that is a topic that really matters for all of us. I warmly invite all operators, manufacturers and suppliers to present us their eco-responsible actions!”

Commenting on the addition of Best Use of Technology (Guest experience/Park operations), an award that recognises the technology that enhances the guest experience behind the scenes and/or improves park operations, Marcus says: “Some of the great achievements in our industry are not always the most glamourous. The introduction of this award will ensure the often, over-looked projects and products also get their time to shine.”

Judge Richard Pawley, director of operations for rides and safety, VTP Global Holdings sums it up well: “Awards always break new ground, and the two new categories are very exciting in that these kinds of innovations, perspectives and practices will become part of a park’s policy making and we should embrace, encourage, learn from and share publicly if we are to discover what our way forward is for 2021 and the future. There is therefore a practical reason for every operator, manufacturer and supplier to play a part in the Park Word Excellence Awards.”

Launched bythe publisher of Park World magazine)in 2018, the Park World Excellence Awardsis a leading annual awards scheme designed to recognise remarkable operators in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) and the outstanding manufacturers, suppliers and entertainment specialists that worked with them to bring the year’s top experiences to life.
